I'm home in NYC visiting family for Easter, and I just happen to walk into in the Bitter End. It's pretty packed, but I can't really see the stage, and the band is setting up.
Suddenly in walks SNLs Shawn Pelton, then the great Steve Hass, after him, Omar Hakim.
Ends up the guys setting up were Jerry Marrotta, and some session guys playing with some young artists Jerry's producing. What a groove Mr JMarrotta has WOW.
When that's nearing the end, I see Anton Fig walk in, then Keith Carlock. But they had their drums. Turns out, they were playing next with guitarist Oz Noy. Both drummers at the same time. Before the show it was a real scene right by the stage. Will Lee, Steve Hass, Shawn Pelton, Keith Carlock and Anton Fig in a circle just chatting it up. I wish I had one of those private eye mechanisms to catch a glimpse of that conversation.
The show was unbelievable, Anton and Keith were on FIRE!
Being from LA, I really appreciated this scene. Apparently it happens all the time in NYC. Bad mo's playing nightly in clubs. I was delighted!
Anyhow, time to catch a flight back to boring LA. HA! It's not that bad.

I'm really looking forward to experience Carlock in Action with Sting here in copenhagen in May.

But i still don't consider LA beeing directly borring compared to other places. You may be right with LA not beeing the Session haven it used to, but there's still some serious muscisians around the area

A pretty cool night, i would say.

It would seem Ost was being facetious about the whole "LA vs. NYC thing" when he said
"Anyhow, time to catch a flight back to boring LA. HA! It's not that bad" in the very last line.

FUSE, thank you ...
One of the main reasons i come to forum on a daily basis is to learn, share and feel a little closer to the action (even if it is only thinking about it).
And now that i'm talking about it:
I find really incredible the effort (and consequences) of Steve Holmes, I really appreciate it. i'm sure you read this a lot of times but I'll state anyway, your "house" has turn into a great house to be when you love drumming. Thanks.
It's really important too to have great participants as most of the people here are...
